Choosing the right size makes all the difference.

Living Room
For most Kenyan living rooms, a 6×9 or 7×10 rug works best. The front legs of your sofa and chairs should rest on the rug, creating a unified seating area. Leave 30–45 cm of bare floor between the rug edge and the wall.
Quick rule: Small room (up to 3m × 4m) → 5×8. Medium (4m × 5m) → 6×9. Large (5m+) → 7×10.
Bedroom
Place the rug under the lower two-thirds of the bed so it extends on both sides and at the foot. You want at least 60 cm showing on each side. A 6×9 works for queen beds; go 7×10 for king beds.
Quick rule: Single/Double → 5×8. Queen → 6×9. King → 7×10.
Dining Room
Your dining rug needs to be large enough that chairs stay on it even when pulled out. Add at least 60 cm to each side of the table dimensions.
Quick rule: 4-seater table → 6×9. 6-seater table → 7×10.
